Landry, District D councilman, is having a tough time figuring out why two people have been killed in his district over a two-month period.
The latest murder occurred this past Thursday night with the death of Paul Rice Jr. Rice was shot behind the head multiple times while in the front yard at a friend’s home.
“This is a sad killing that did not need to happen,” said Landry. “Two killings occurred two blocks of each other in less than two months. This happened in my district. I’m wondering, ‘What is going on?’”
The first killing Landry is speaking about is the tragic death of Rita Jordan, an elderly woman who was stabbed multiple times while she was in her home.
The two deaths occurred not far from each other but they do not seem to be related.
As of Monday, no one has been arrested for the Rice murder. Landry said he is staying on top of both murders and begging anyone to come forward with information on any of the murders.
If anyone knows anything about the death of Jordan or Rice, Landry is encouraging them to call the Abbeville Police Department (893-2511) and ask for Chief Tony Hardy or Detective David Hardy.
