The group, comprised of 11 women, handed out brand-new school uniforms to 50 families, a week before school begins.
The ladies had fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the uniform drive. They raised $1,300 which went to purchasing the uniforms.
Each child was handed two sets of uniforms.
Aliece Smith, the mother of Jeremy Vilchis, was gracious.
“I am very appreciative,” said Smith. “This helps me out a lot.”
Teresta Ruffins, a member of the 337 Sisters, said they wanted to try to help the community by having the back to school uniform drive. It is the first year the club is putting on the drive.
“It went great,” Ruffins said.
They had fundraisers at the Tikki Lounge and the Ponderosa Lounge in Abbeville. Spic-and-Span donated the clear bags to put the uniforms in as they handed them out at the Christian Service Ce
