GUEYDAN - When the students walk into Gueydan High School Wednesday, they will be greeted by a new face. Brandy Kaye LeBeouf was hired to fill the vacancy created when Brandy Broussard was appointed to the GHS Assistant Principal position.

Ms. Brandy may be new to Gueydan High but she is not new to the workforce. Almost immediately after she graduated from Cecilia High School, she married, had two children, Spencer and Seth, and worked at various jobs in retail but she worked the longest at Bank One. As a newly divorced mother of two, she applied for a new position there; she learned that she had to have a college degree to get it. That was when she realized that she needed to go back to school if she wanted to advance beyond a minimum wage job. Her dream had always been to be a teacher and she worked, supported herself and put herself through college. She had the support of her new husband, Brian Lebeouf, they had a son Christian and two weeks before final exams in 2011, Brandy gave birth to her twin girls, Makayla and Mackensie. During all of this, Brandy continued her quest for a diploma and she was rewarded for all of her hard work last December.

Brandy did her student teaching at Kaplan High School and taught 6th grade ELA in Iberia Parish. She quickly realized high school is where she belongs! She is honored to have been chosen as the new English teacher at Gueydan High although she is aware that replacing Ms. Brandy Broussard, she has big shoes to fill!

When asked Brandy what her teaching philosophy is, she answered “My teaching philosophy is simple; I treat children the way I would want my own children to be treated. I would prefer to teach a student how to fish, rather than just feeding them a fish. With enough love, compassion, and devotion, every child has redeeming qualities that are just waiting to be discovered by me!”

Brandy says she is excited to be teaching in Gueydan “because of the administration and because Gueydan is in the most “sought after” parish in the state! I have talked to many people and Vermilion is ahead of the times. Vermilion spearheads a lot of programs, pilots them and is the leader when it comes to education.”

Brandy will be teaching English III and English IV as well as some 7th grade courses! She will definitely be an excited new face at Gueydan High School.
