The Bears (9-14. 1-7) beat their District 8-1A rival Tigers (7-15, 1-7) convincingly by a 63-46 margin, while the Lady Bears (7-17, 1-5) beat the Lady Tigers (18-10, 1-5) 41-38.
For the Bears, the victory snapped an eight-game losing streak that began at the start of district play on Friday, Jan. 13, against Ascension Episcopal.
The Lady Bears notched their second victory in a row with Monday’s win. They beat Class C Northside Christian 45-40 on Friday to end a five game skid. .
The LHSAA’s unofficial power rankings, released on Tuesday, Feb. 14, has the Lady Bears in the 37th spot and the Bears in the 36th position.
That being the case, it would appear that the boys and girls from Gueydan have played their final games of the season.
Only the top-32 teams in each class make the postseason. Hanson’s girls are now seeded 11th in the LHSAA’s unofficial power rankings.
