The Vermilion Parish School Board will meet tonight for the first time in 2009.

One order of business is expected to be the naming of a new head football coach at Erath High. The Board will vote on the recommendation of Erath Principal Francis Touchet.

Touchet and a committee he created completed the search process in late December. He would not make public the selection of the new coach pending Board approval.

The Board will either vote to accept or deny Touchet’s pick to replace long-time Bobcats head coach Jacob Byler.

Byler retired after the end of the 2008 season. He led the Bobcats for 22 seasons.
