A clean sweep in the triple jump and a total of eight Top 3 finishes on the men’s side were the highlights for the Ragin’ Cajuns men’s and women’s track and field programs on the final day of action at the Arkansas State Invitational held at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Jasmine Manuel had the banner day as she recorded a school indoor triple jump record in picking up her first title of the 2012 season. Manuel leaped 12.78m/41-11 ¼ which edged out the school record of 12.77m/41-10 ¾ that she set at last season’s Sun Belt indoor meet and Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational.

Louisiana had the top three marks in the women’s triple jump as following up Manuel was Jasmin Fusilier at 12.02m/39-5 ¼ and Tarvia Conway at 11.84m/38-10 ¼.

In the men’s triple jump, junior O’Daylon Thibeaux didn’t have one of his best marks, but the leap of 14.80m/48-6 ¾ was good enough for first place. Freshman Joshua Sigler’s distance of 14.62m/47-11 ¾ wasn’t far behind and was his season best.

The Cajuns other title on Saturday came in the men’s 5,000 meter run and was turned in by Zach France. France clocked in with a time of 15:53.21 to earn his first indoor track title.

The three first place finishes on Saturday increased the number of individual titles in head coach Lon Badeaux’s inaugural indoor track and field season to 10.

Justin Jones had a solid day on the track, garnering a pair of Top 5 finishes. Jones placed third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.47 seconds. He followed up with a time of 22.38 seconds in the 200 meter dash which placed him fourth in that event.

Keyondrick Boykins set his personal best in the 55 meter hurdles for the second straight week. His Convocation Center time of 7.60 seconds landed him a second place finish.

Alexis Malone (55 meter dash – 7.22 seconds) and Amanda Roberts (400 meter dash – 59.32 seconds) collected Top 5 finishes for the Cajuns women on the track.

Sander Maes and Wes Gonzales completed participation in the heptathlon taking part in the pole vault, 1,000 meter run and 55 meter hurdles. Maes, who entered the day in second place, finished third with 5,189 points while Gonzales placed fourth with 4,559 points.

The Cajuns men 4x400 relay team consisting of DeMarcus Runnels, Willie Allen, Louis Stevens, Antoine Jackson posted the team’s best time of the season in the event at 3:23.31. Krystal Chevis, Stacy Imagbe, Petrona Layne, Amanda Roberts teamed up for a season-best 4:05.53 in the women’s 4x400 relay.
