Fr. William C. Blanda, Chancellor of Vermilion Catholic High School, announces the selection of Sean M. Comeaux as the head basketball coach of Vermilion Catholic High School. Sean served as the assistant basketball coach during this school year. In addition to his duties in the basketball program, he also serves as assistant coach for football and baseball. Sean has had a chance to work with the coaches and the students and is already familiar with the athletic programs here at school.

Sean earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Nicholls State University, where he received athletic letters in football and baseball. This year he taught Physical Science and Environmental Science as well as serving as a Louisiana Virtual School Facilitator.

Coach Comeaux said, “I am really excited to become the head basketball coach at VC. I won’t promise victories, but what I can promise is that I will be the hardest working VC basketball coach in history! I am looking forward to hard work with great kids.”

Fr. Blanda commented, “As assistant coach, Sean specialized in setting the offense and defensive scheme used on the court. He is proficient in teaching basic and advanced skills to the players and utilizes positive motivation. In the classroom, Sean will continue to be a valuable asset. Sean is a product of a Catholic education, having graduated from Catholic High School in New Iberia. While in college he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Sean has demonstrated a good work ethic and possesses excellent leadership skills. He is willing to work hard and lead by example, both qualities that we want to instill in our students. As a school community we are looking forward to Sean moving into the position of head coach and are confident of his ability to continue to be a Catholic role model in our school both in the classroom and on the basketball court.”
