Former educator

PINEVILLE -- Services for longtime educator and former state Principal of the Year John Cotton will be Tuesday. He died Nov. 27 at age 72.

He was principal of Paradise Elementary for 33 years and Principal of the Year in 1983.

Survivors include his wife Sue and a son.

Arrangements are by Hixson Bros.

Children’s advocate

BATON ROUGE -- Services will be Tuesday for engineer and children’s advocate Loyd Rockhold. He died Nov. 26 at age 88.

He was a former member of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and a Marine Corp veteran of World War II.

Rockhold established Special Children’s Foundation in 1975 and he became a well-known advocate of people with developmental disabilities.

Survivors include his wife Terry and seven daughters.
