The only problem is that it’s completely unknown as to how the puppy made the 250-mile trip. It is not a big problem, though, because the journey home is the best story, anyway.
Isabella made that trip Thursday when she returned to Abbeville and reunited with her owner, 19-year-old Christine Blanchard.
“I was freaking out,” Blanchard said. “I was so thankful.”
Blanchard, who was 16 when Isabella disappeared, said she is definitely thankful she installed a microchip implant in the dog when Isabella was a few weeks old. That chip alone is the reason for the reunion.
“Someone found the dog in Katy and brought it to a vet,” Blanchard said.
The vet scanned the chip and Blanchard’s contact info came up.
“I never thought I would see her again,” Blanchard said. “We put up fliers all over our neighborhood and throughout the city. We just never found her.
“Putting the chip in is the best decision we ever made.”
Isabella is now back at home. But she isn’t the only dog in the house.
“I had gotten a new dog,” Blanchard said. “I got her a chip on Thursday. I am not taking any more chances.”
It’s by chance that someone in Katy found Isabella and she is now home. However she got there, Blanchard is grateful for her return.
“My face was red because I was so nervous and excited when I first saw her again,” Blanchard said. “She was a little skeptical when she first got back. But she is warming up and she is OK.
