GUEYDAN -Children were armed with Easter baskets and on the hunt for hundreds of brightly colored hidden treasures all across the country. The tradition is to use dyed or painted eggs or one of the more modern customs, to substitute plastic eggs filled with confectionery such as jelly beans.
The Hubbard Congregational United Church, Pastor Leifer Johnson, and members of the church continued the Easter traditional celebration for children to enjoy by hosting the annual Easter Egg Hunt in our community. The children were treated to fun games as well as winning prizes.
The afternoon began by being blessed with great sunny weather. The children were soon enjoying games such as egg spoon races, egg scramble and cushioning the egg. Then the famous Easter Egg Hunt was on where children spread throughout the church grounds in search of the Golden Egg.
One of the organizers and sponsors, Florence Williams, commented “it was all for the children”. Williams explains that overall the event was fun for the whole family. Children were given candy and left with baskets full of eggs!
Sponsors for the event were Florence Williams, Gwen Maxile, Laura Watson, Caressa Waston, Kyjah Woods, Rena Huntsberry and Victoria Hebert.
