The Abbeville Fire Department responded to an early morning house fire Wednesday, which resulted in the house being destroyed, and siding on a home next door being melted.

No one was injured.

A house at the corner of Gauraud Street and Jean Street caught fire at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday despite no one living in the house. Fire trucks responded and did not leave the scene until 7:30 a.m.

The fire looked to have begun in the kitchen area near the carport.

The heat from the house melted the aluminum siding on the house next door, as well as melted the plastic covering around a green house filled with plants located in between the house that was on fire and the neighbor next door.

The fire is still under investigation by the fire department.
