OPELOUSAS - Erath’s own Tujuacagofas captured its division of the $100,000 added D. S. “Shine” Young Memorial Futurity for Louisiana Bred 2-year-olds at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino this past weekend.

Tujuacagofas, benefitting from a solid early pace, split tiring rivals in mid-stretch under jockey Colby Hernandez, taking the lead in the final 150 yards and inched clear late for the win. Tujuacagofas returned $6.80 for the win, her first in three career starts.

Erath’s Nathan Granger owns Tujuacagofas and she is a daughter of Bwana Charlie and the Our Emblem mare Our Dalila and was a $25,000 purchase at the Fasig-Tipton Texas 2-Year-Old-in-Training Sale this past April. Winning for the first time in three career starts, she earned the $78,660 winner’s share of the six-figure purse. Trained by Al Stall Jr. and ridden by Kerwin Clark, she was bred by Brett Brinkman.
