Last season, the meet had to be postponed until Friday, running concurrently with the Snooks Relays, due to inclement weather. That should not be a problem this year, however, as forecasts are calling for partly cloudy skies, a 20 percent chance of rain and a high of 77 degrees.
Field events in Erath are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., with running events to follow at 6 p.m.
Admission is $5 at the gate.
The trophy presentations for team champion and runner-up, as well as the Outstanding Track, Field and Overall awards, will take place on Friday night following the Snooks Relays, also at Erath High School.
The in-parish teams in competition this year will be the girls’ track teams from Erath, Abbeville, Vermilion Catholic, North Vermilion, Kaplan and Delcambre.
Teams set to compete from outside the parish include Opelousas, Sacred Heart – G.C., Hanson, Berwick, ESA, Ascension Episcopal and Catholic – N.I.
Last year, the Abbeville Lady Wildcats took first place in the Lady Bobcat Relays with a total of 128 points, narrowly eclipsing the NV Lady Patriots total by a scant nine points.
Returning Erath Lady Bobcat Caitlin Domingues earned the Outstanding Overall Performer award.
Abbeville High grad Rechelle Bessard took home the Outstanding Track Performer award and Erath’s Marisa Primeaux earned the Outstanding Track Performer award.
