GUEYDAN - High School seniors around the country will be throwing their graduation caps in the air this week.

The annual graduation ceremony will be held tonight at the Gueydan High School Gym.

Members of the GHS faculty as well as family and friends will watch the future of our community as they are handed their diplomas.

Luddy Herpin, Principal at GHS states, “this year’s senior class is the smallest class that has graduated in many years from GHS. Yet though this class is small it has accomplished so much with each of you contributing, so much in your special way. We have seen you grow in so many ways while at GHS. We wish you the best in your future journey. Always remember where you have been, for it is the only way you will be able to move forward to the future”.

Receiving the top honors in the 2012 graduating class as valedictorian is Joshua Hebert. He was a member of FFA for four years and was President for two years, received FFA State Degree and was a member of GHS Beta Club for four years. He made All-Academic All State Composite team in football and in baseball. He was the senior class Vice President and he attended Louisiana Boy State.

Joshua is the son of Milton and Terri Hebert.

The Salutatorian of the 2012 graduating class is Tori Spiers. She is the daughter of Rachel Reese and Clifford ‘Kip’ Overly. She is graduating with a 3.9. Tori was class President her sophomore and junior years, Beta Club Vice President, Treasurer and Vice President of the GHS Literary Club, drama four years, GHS cheerleader three years, cheerleader captain, softball one year, track one year, Homecoming Court two years, 2011-12 Miss Gueydan, she attended Louisiana Girl State, received credits in duel enrollment in advance math, French Club three years and was the CEO of the Burin Staff.

The Master of Ceremony for the evening will be Austin Zaubrecher graduating third in the 2012 class. He is graduating with a 3.85. Austin is the son of Martin and Mary Elizabeth Zaunbrecher.

Gueydan High School graduation will begin at 7 p.m. in the GHS Gym.
