The Board of Supervisors backed the proposal Friday without objection.
The plans include adding 60 suites, approximately 3,000 club seats and general seating for another 1,500 people above the existing south end zone seats in the stadium.
Borrowing for the construction will be done by the Tiger Athletic Foundation, the fundraising arm of LSU sports.
Athletics Director Joe Alleva says he expects some of the money also to be directed to help fund new tennis courts, a new gymnastics practice center, and locker rooms for the track and field teams.
