Things were looking good for the Lady Panthers as they opened up a 14-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, the Lady Wolfpack outscored the Lady Panthers 15-2 to take a commanding 27-16 lead at the half.
“We had a game plan and we pretty much stuck to it in the first quarter,” head coach Lisa Richard said. “We made some mistakes in the second quarter and the game got away from us.
“After we got away from our game plan we didn’t block out. They (West St. Mary) got some easy put backs.”
Things did not improve for the Lady Panthers as the Lady Wolfpack opened a 50-16 lead with two minutes remaining in the third quarter. However, the Land Panthers outscored the Lady Wolfpack 7-0 to close out the quarter trailing 50-23.
The Lady Wolfpackopened the fourth quarter by outscoring the Lady Panthers 10-2 to take in insurmountable 64-25 lead before the Lady Wolfpack emptied to bench.
“When you’re outscored 36-0 it’s tough,” coach Richard said. “We didn’t give up and we fought hard.
“I’m disappointed in the outcome, but we didn’t give up. That’s what’s most impressive.”
Nicole Bouillion led the Lady Panthers with 12 points.
The Lady Panthers (5-18, 1-4) travel Loreauville Tuesday to take on the Lady Tigers.
