Dear Editor,

This is a letter of thanks to all the people who have supported the American Legion Post 29 of Abbeville financially over the past years. Being sponsors for our many civic programs have allowed us to reach out to the public with programs to teach our young people how to be better citizens in society.

Your purchasing of the simple poppy made by our disabled veterans allowed us to give money you donated back to the very people who made them. And by renting the hall to help with our other exspenses.

The average member of the American Legion is deeply patriotic and usually on a limited income. We are, however, charged with the duty of not allowing Post 29 to fail under any condition, financial or otherwise.

The World War 1 Veterans of Vermilion Post 29 started this organization in 1919, the same year that the American Legion was founded. We the current members feel a strong commitment to our early member's memories and to keep the flag flying freely over the home of Post 29. Thank you, our sponsors and renters, for being a part of that mission.

For God and Country

Travis Callahan

Post 29 Adjutant
