It was a hot and sweaty scrimmage for the Tigers on Tuesday. The squad ran the 52-play scrimmage and Miles followed it up with a press conference. The Honey Badger came up a few times during the discussion.

Miles has received a lot of media scrutiny over one particular comment he made about former cornerback and returned Tyrann Mathieu.

“I am not in any way speculating. He will not be on this football team this year - I guarantee that’s a fact. So I have no idea beyond that,” Miles said. It was viewed as a departure from the original press conference announcing Mathieu’s removal from the team, when Miles spoke as though Mathieu would not have the possibility of returning at all.

Miles also said that any school who wanted Mathieu would be lucky to have him, saying “I recommend him.”

He’s a wonderful young man. I think he’s a team player. I think he’s improved in his maturity and that’s kind of how I would speak about him - that he deserves every opportunity,” he added.

Miles complimented the play of safety Eric Reid and Sam Montgomery on defense, along with that of redshirt freshman quarterback Stephen Rivers and running backs Kenny Hilliard and Alfred Blue.
