After a brief battle with thyroid cancer, and the continuing battle of low energy due to the removal of her thyroid, Jessica relies on a consistent exercise regimen to keep her energy level up and to feel better. Her goal of looking better and feeling better is what everyone strives for- and working out 5 days a week at Snap Fitness—Jessica is attaining that goal. She is a true inspiration!

How long have you

been exercising?

I have been exercising for about a year now, but took three months off because of surgery.

What is your exercise regimen?

I go to Snap five days a week and I take the weekends off. For cardio, I like to use the elliptical machine, and for strength training I work different muscle groups on certain days of the week.

What are your

primary fitness

goals?

My main fitness goal is, of course, to look better and to have more energy. My goal is to lose a total of 100 pounds.

Have you reached

some of your fitness

goals set?

Yes – I can stay on the elliptical machine for 30-45 minutes, and do sprints on the treadmill without feeling like I want to pass out. Before, I was lucky if I could reach 10 minutes on the elliptical. I have definitely increased my endurance.

How has exercising

helped your daily life tasks?

I can now walk up stairs without being out of breath, I can run outside with my daughter, and best of all, I can sit in almost any chair I want, without having to squeeze into it.

Has consistent

exercising changed

your eating habits?

Yes, because it would be pointless to exercise and eat the quantities of food that I once did, so I now track my caloric intake daily.

What is your main

motivation for

exercising?

To be honest, main motivation is to overall look better, but I also want to be healthy too.

Any health issues

that exercise has

positively benefited?

I don’t have a thyroid anymore, due to thyroid cancer, so working out helps with my energy level. I’ve also eased a lot of back issues I once had.

What do you like

about Snap Fitness?

I like the comfort I feel when I’m at Snap. Not once have I felt like I didn’t belong there. I like the staff and how they are willing to help as soon as they are asked a question, and I’ve known Scott Segura, Snap Personal Trainer, for a long time. He is very good at his job!
