Hanging out with young folks can be intimidating.

Of course I’m talking to those of you who, like me, have had to face the truth and accept that you’re not one of them. You know what I’m talking about.

Let’s say Facebook. Games (what’s monopoly?). Music, or what passes as music. I’ll be merciful and stop giving examples.

Periodically, the pendulum does swing back however.

Finances. Politics. Influence. Yeah! Score one for the older crowd.

Now let’s talk middle ground... As hard as I try, the only area where I see the young and old on a level playing field is at the gym.

There’s something about everyone being dedicated.

Everyone giving their all. Everyone trying to reach a common goal that levels the playing field.

Let’s face it. Other than the music playing through the ear buds were all alike at the gym.

I’m not talking about buns, hard bodies or buff. I’m talking about fitness.

Sure it may look somewhat different to each person but it’s basically identical regardless of age. It’s no wonder that guys step up and spot for each other. Or ladies share daily compliments.

We’re all alike at the gym!

We sweat. We strain. We push. We hurt and burn and tire. We do it for ourselves and for those who love us.

I leave Snap feeling empowered, alive, complete! I leave with a sense of belonging.

Even if my workout buddies change from session to session the experience is the same. I’m a better man each time.
