Three arrested over the weekend for OWIs

The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office was busy this weekend arresting people for operating while intoxicated (OWI).

Sheriff deputies arrested two, while the State Police booked one.

Leon Kevin Minnick was arrested Sunday around 6 p.m. and charged with OWI, running stop signs and yield signs, along with getting a ticket for not wearing a seat belt by the the State Police. His bond was set at a total of $3,000.

His address is 6803 Adier Road in Abbeville.

A few hours later, Bryan Dale Schexneider of Morse, La. was stopped by a Sheriff’s deputy and given an OWI ticket for running stop signs and yield signs.

His total bond for two charges was $1,500 and he was not in prison on Monday.

On Saturday, Kaplan’s James Anthony Stith Jr. of Kaplan was stopped by a Sheriff’s Deputy and given four tickets. His total bond was set at $2,750.

He was issued a OWI ticket, along with a ticket for child passenger restraint, coupled with running stop signs and yield signs, plus operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

His address is 1100 Church Avenue in Kaplan.

Also on Saturday, Jarred Michael Clement of Abbeville was arrested by State Police and booked into the parish jail for driving violations.

He received a Maximum Speed Limit ticket, along with driving on the right side of the road, resisting an officer and flight from an officer. His total bond for those four charges was $1,750.

Clement’s home address is 417 Marmont Street in Abbeville.
