Interviews are taking place Monday for the soon-to-be open assistant superintendent position in Vermilion Parish.

The three being interviewed are Paul Hebert, the principal at Kaplan Elementary, David Dupuis, the principal at Rene Rost Middle School and Dawn Amy, the principal at LeBlanc Elementary School.

The three will be interviewed and scored by a committee comprised of school personnel.

Based on the scores and how well the interview went, Superintendent Randy Schexnayder will make a recommendation to the School Board Thursday night.

The School Board will then vote on Schexnayder’s recommendation.

The new hire will be replacing Charlotte Waguespack, who will be retiring January of 2013. However, the new person will begin on-the-job training this summer.

Because all three who applied are principals, there will be a principal job opening after Thursday. The School Board is expected to open that position up next week.

By the end of the week, the top positions will be in place in the school board office.

Starting in January, Jerome Puyau will begin acting as the new superintendent, and Ellen Arceneaux and whoever the school board names Thursday are the assistant superintendents.

Also, expected to be named at the school board meeting is a new assistant principal at Erath High School. There are nine people who applied. They are also being interviewed today.

Wbo do you think should get the assistant superintendent position?
