Two schools are benefiting from new technology

GUEYDAN - An excited principal of Jesse Owens Elementary, Anita Dupuis recently received a delivery that will change the dynamics of the school.

According to Dupuis JOES will have a computer lab, bringing a new learning experience to the students.

Dupuis states, “With 20 new computers and a promethean board, teachers will be able to take students in the lab to do technology connected lessons in any subject” she continue to say, “Our goal is to have a promethean board for each homeroom teacher next year”.

Gueydan High School students will also benefit from $20,000 in technology money from the Vermilion Parish School Board. According to the new vice principal Brandy Broussard “ This is a great way to begin a new school year”.

According to Broussard at the close of the school year the GHS teachers created a wish list of technology items they felt would be beneficial to students learning. The money was spent on 13 new updated computers, 10 documents cameras to project any document to the entire classroom, 3 new promethean boards, a promethean slate, 2 new printers for the Jr. High lab, 3 new digital cameras and one new flip camera.

All these items were purchased in order to help enhance the learning experience of students at Gueydan High School and Jesse Owens Elementary.
