LAFAYETTE – The Ragin’ Cajuns softball team cracked the top five for the first time this season coming in at No. 5 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 in this week’s poll, which was released on Tuesday.

Louisiana (44-2, 19-2) also leaped one spot to No. 6 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll, marking the seventh consecutive week the Cajuns have been in the top 10 of both national rankings.

UL remained No. 12 in the Rating’s Percentage Index (RPI) after a three game sweep at Western Kentucky last weekend.

The Cajuns clinched their 12th Sun Belt Regular Season Championship in the league’s 13-year history after a 2-1 victory in the nightcap of the twin bill against WKU on Saturday.

Louisiana concludes their regular season against La.- Monroe in a three game series next weekend, May 5-6 at Lamson Park.
