Mr. and Mrs. Frank deGraauw Jr. of Abeville are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lauren Elizabeth, to Robert Douglas Felder.

The groom-to-be is the son of Sharon Felder and Tom Powers of Lafayette and Darryl and Jennifer Felder of Lafayette.

The couple will be united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Friday, May 20, 2011, at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis Claude Veglia of New Orleans and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank deGraauw Sr. of Abbeville.

She is a graduate of Vermilion Catholic High School. She attended Louisiana State University, including overseas study in Hawaii, and completed a bachelor of science degree in business.

She is currently attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and will receive a bachelor of science degree in dietetics on May 14, 2011. She is employed by Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in the Department of Dietetics.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mrs. Anna Yust Kirn of Houston, Texas, the late Mr. James Wagner Smith of Houston, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Arnold Felder of New Braunfels, Texas.

He graduated from Teurlings Catholic High School and Louisiana State University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in anthropology.

He later graduated from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, receiving the Juris Doctor degree and the diploma in civil law. He works as an attorney in Lafayette.
