Task Force begins the year busting people

The Vermilion / Municipal Narcotics Task Force not only ended the years strong in drug arrests but began 2011 in the same fashion.

From street level dealers to those who infiltrate our parish and cities to sell drugs, the Task Force is focusing on them all.

The following persons were arrested recently by the Task Force for drug related crimes: On Dec. 28, agents were working active warrants on street level dealers and arrested Marco Saddler (DOB 9-10-90) of 1101 Green Street in Abbeville for two counts of Distribution of Cocaine and one count of resisting a police officer.

Saddler was also charged with one count of contempt of court once he was booked in to the parish jail. Total bond was set at $41,500.

On Jan. 4, agents were once again serving outstanding warrants when they arrested Gerald Mire Jr (DOB 7-29-70) of 1501 Cherokee Street in Abbeville for Possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

Upon agents making the arrest Mire was found to be in possession of marijuana. Mire was also charged with possession of marijuana and was booked in to the parish where he total bond was set at $26,000.

On Jan. 6, agents conducted a sting in which two suspected drug dealers were to meet and sell suspected marijuana within the Vermilion Parish area. Once a location of the deal was established agents set up surveillance. Agents noticed a vehicle and two white males fitting the description of the suspected dealers. Agents stopped the vehicle and upon investigation found the suspected marijuana. Agents seized the drugs, suspected narcotics proceeds and a Chevy suburban utilized to facilitate the transportation and sale of the suspected marijuana. Arrested in this incident was Nicholas Lacroix (DOB 4-16-93) of 108 Colonial Drive in Lafayette Lacroix was charged with possession with int ent to distribute marijuana. Bond has not been set as of this time.

The second person charged in this incident was Corey Breaux (DOB 7-31-92) of 119 Faculty Drive in Lafayette. Breaux was charged with principle to distribution of Marijuana. No bond has been set as of this time.

On Jan. 6, once again, agents contacted a suspected drug dealer in an effort to purchase crack cocaine.

This certain dealer has had several run ins with the task force in other narcotics related incidences.

Upon contacting and establishing a location of the sale of suspected crack cocaine with the dealer agents set up surveillance. The dealer arrived and once the money was exchanged for the suspect to go get the drugs agents took the dealer down.

Arrested was Jacado Petry (DOB 8-27-90) of 719 Parkview Drive in Abbeville. He was charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. No bond has been set as of this time.

Sheriff Mike Couvillon, Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza, Abbeville Chief of Police Tony Hardy, commends the Narcotics Task Force for a job well done.
