The event will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. each day.
Prior to Parish Government Day, Vermilion Parish Schools held elections in their individual schools. Students who won from these schools will be attending Parish Government Day. An election among these students will be held during the first day.
After this election takes place, students will “take over the city” with their respective roles. Speeches will be given during the first day’s activities.
During the second day, a “crime” will take place and a mock trial will begin. Each student will be mentored by the professional in the position.
Vermilion Parish Schools, The Vermilion Parish School Board, Abbeville judges, The American Legion, and Gale Luquette will contribute to Parish Goverment Day.
The Derouen-Moss Post 279 of Erath is the host Post this year. The guest speaker will be Major General Hunt Downer.
Oris Bellanger, Commander of Post 279 will be the host Commander and the Area F Commander, Harold Davidson, and Area F President, Evette LeBlanc, were the ones who worked with the school board, Police Jury, and Judicial system orchestrating the entire event and media coverage.
