The Abbeville Police Department was able to arrest the man who allegedly hit Jason Duhon of Abbeville and landed him in a Lafayette hospital, fighting for his life.

Daniel Hernandez was arrested and charged with second degree battery following the incident.

Duhon suffered brain damage last Saturday at around midnight after falling and hitting his head on the cement in the parking lot of Dee’s Lounge.

Duhon, 33, had brain surgery and today is in a coma in a Lafayette hospital.

Police say he was injured in a fight, but the details of what happened were a mystery to police until Thursday.

Thanks to tips from the public, police were able to find out how he was injured and arrested Hernandez for the crime.

Hernandez, who is from Abbeville, was booked into the parish jail and his bond was set at $25,000. If Duhon dies, Hernandez could be charged with manslaughter.
