The City of Abbeville won the District 3 Cleanest City Contest.

The city beat out Morgan City, last year’s winner.

The contest is sponsored by the Louisiana Garden Club Foundation.

Abbeville Mayor Mark Piazza learned of the positive news on Friday.

It has been 15 years since the last time Abbeville won a district cleanest city award.

“We are really excited about winning the cleanest city award,” said Piazza. “I want to thank the community for taking part. It was a community effort. All of the volunteers who helped clean the city did a great job.”

Abbeville moves on to the state’s cleanest contest. At the end of the month, the city will compete against other cities the size of Abbeville who won their district award. It has been 30 years since Abbeville won the state’s cleanest city award.
