Starting on Monday, the bridge that crosses the Vermilion River in Perry will be closed for five weeks, announced the Department of Transportation and Development.

DOTD said the bridge will be under repair.

This will be the second bridge DOTD has worked on in the parish that crosses the Vermilion Parish. Earlier in the year, the bridge in downtown Abbeville was worked on.

DOTD is giving rivers an alternate route .

Because of the bridge closure, expect traffic to be heavy on La. 335 (the street passing in front of Richard’s Crawfish) and Pumping Plant Road.

Another route to travel to Esther, Pecan Island or Intracoastal City is going on La. 35 in Kaplan.

La. 35 travels to Forked Island.

DOTD did not say what repairs will be done on the bridge.
