What is your main motivation for exercising?
My main reason I started exercising regularly was due to advice from my doctor. I had high cholesterol and could not get my triglycerides down. I was prescribed a pill, but it did not help, and could not get below 150. The only thing that has helped is diet and exercise. Since joining Snap, my triglycerides are the lowest they have ever been, at 131.
How long have you been exercising?
I have always been very active throughout my life. I jogged, walked and rode a bike for years; until I started having knee pain. My wife, Pat, joined Snap Fitness in August of 2010, I started in September of 2010 and have not stopped.
What is your exercise regimen?
I come to Snap Fitness 5-7 times a week. Sometimes even on a Sunday afternoon when I’m bored. I start with 30 minutes of cardio on the seated elliptical, it is much better for my joints than walking. After a 6 miles and a cool down, I follow a circuit routine for upper and lower body on the strength-training equipment.
Have your eating habits changed since beginning an exercise program?
From the advice of my doctor, I follow a diabetic diet, even though I am not diabetic. I eat fruit for breakfast, and never eat a protein and starch together – only protein and vegetable combinations. When eating out, I chose grilled over fried foods.
What do you like about Snap Fitness?
I really enjoy going to Snap Fitness because everyone is very friendly, and the gym has a really great atmosphere – very peaceful and nice.
