A native of Iberia Parish and resident of Henry, Mr. Hebert passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was a cattleman and farmer who had a sugarcane derrick and hauled cane for local cane growers to Erath Sugar Co. and Steen’s Syrup Mill in Abbeville. Mr. Alvin worked for General Gas and American Cyanamid as a chemical and fertilizer salesman. He loved to grow a garden and give vegetables to family and friends in the neighborhood and was a member of St. John’s Church in Henry.
He is survived by his son, C. Kenneth Hebert and wife Bonnie of Henry; grandsons, Chuck Hebert, Jr. and wife Jackie of Meaux and Craig Karl Hebert and wife Wendy of Delcambre; great-grandchildren, Gage Hebert of Delcambre, Blake Hebert of Meaux, Hannah Hebert of Delcambre, Barrett Hebert of Meaux and Riley Hebert of Delcambre; sister, Mildred Hebert Leleux; three brothers, Louis Hebert and wife Myra, Daniel Hebert and wife Barbara and Calvin Hebert; and brothers-in-law, Edmond Babineaux and Caroll “Whitey” Migues.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Lilly Mae LeBlanc Hebert; his parents, Dennis and Laurant Robicheaux Hebert; brother, Webster Hebert and wife Ruby; sisters, Loraine Babineaux, Laurant “Toot” Migues and Theresa “Sis” Andre; sisters-in-law, Rita Blanchard Hebert and Vivian Hebert; and brother-in-law, Dennis Leleux.
The family would like to thank AAA Hospice of New Iberia with a special thanks to Kerri, Kay, Erin, and Gayle Johnson. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Compassus of Lafayette and nurses Claire Knight and Jill Cranfell. A very special thank you is also given to Marilyn Broussard for all of her help.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Hebert, Craig Hebert, Gage Hebert, Blake Hebert, Webster Dubois and Erroll LeBlanc.
