On Thursday, the NV Patriots got their home tournament started, but lost 4-2 to Class B Oak Hill.

Oak Hill’s lefty Paul Carpenter was dominant on the hill to pick up the win. Colby Roy absorbed the loss for NV.

Oak Hill picked up runs in the first and second, but NV would come back to tied it up.

Roy got on with a single to left in the third, stole second, and was driven home by a Trey Broussard single up the middle.

Boyd Denais led off the NV fifth with another single, got to second on a Ty Desormeaux sac bunt, made third on a past ball and scored on a fielder’s choice grounder by Seth Patin.

However, a two-run Oak Hill dinger in the seventh was more than NV could overcome.

NV (5-7) next hosts Church Point (5-9-1) at 12 p.m. and Iota (2-8) at 3 p.m. to finish the tournament on Sunday.

Kaplan ..................... 6

Simpson ....................4

Simpson pitcher Jared Parker was perfect through two innings and stymied Kaplan hitters through the fourth, allowing the Broncos to take a 4-0 lead into the fifth inning.

A Kaplan rally would get the Pirates closer at 4-3 in the bottom of the inning. Jobe Cormier, Dylan Roussel and Matt Landry all scored in the frame.

Down 6-3, Kaplan loaded the bases in the sixth, and a misplayed popup from Roussel allowed Teal Richard, Slade Boullion and Scott Russo all to score.

Kaplan (4-6) next plays at Carencro (7-5) on Tuesday.

Lady Pats............... 10

Erath ........................ 0

NV (9-5, 4-0) freshman Hannah Vidallier no-hit the Lady Bobcats (4-11, 1-2) on Thursday.

Miranda Martin was 3-for-3 with a run scored and four RBIs for NV. Taylor Myers was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

NV next travels to Parkview Baptist (14-5) on Tuesday, while EHS hosts Franklin (1-14,0-3), also Tuesday.

VC Eagles ................ 5

Runnels ................... 3

VC scored four in the first and one in the second and that was all it would need against Runnels Friday.

Ryan David threw a complete game, giving up seven hits and striking out three. Etienne Trahan, Hayden Ryder, Brennan Gallet and Aaron David all had key RBIs.

The Eagles (12-2) next host Opelousas Catholic (6-7-1) on Tuesday, March 20.
