There were big dogs, there were small dogs and they came from all over to compete in the second Wiener Dog Races held Saturday at the Abbeville Chris Crusta Airport.

There were 51 dogs registered to compete in the one-day event. They were from Acadiana, as well as the furthest one, from Houston.

In attendance were close to 500 people who watched the dogs race.

The event was a fundraiser for the Vermilion Parish Chamber of Commerce. Although the complete dollar amount had not been totaled, the Chamber is predicated to raise close to $2,000 for one-day event.

Another success story was the adoption of five dogs from the Vermilion Animal Aid Society.

Here are the names of the winners of the races and who the owners are.
