Coucilman Kevin Guidry named Kaplan native Beth Faulk as his March “Citizen of the Month.’

Married to Jody Faulk, they have three sons, Shane, Jake and D.J.

She is a 1981 graduate of Vermilion Catholic High School and a 1986 graduate of USL with a degree in Adapted Physical Education.

She taught in Acadia Parish for five years and has been teaching in Vermilion Parish for 21 years. She is chairman of the Holy Rosay Church decorating for Christmas and Easter for the past five years.

Involved in Kaplan youth sports for 18 years, she has served as coach, team mom, concessions manager, fund raising chairman, board members and began the MVP tennis league for ladies in Vermilion Parish. She has coached athletes at the state level in track and field and tennis.

Faulk is a certified to coach four special Olympic sports - tennis, basketball, bowling and track and field.

In 1991, along with a Special Olympic partner, earned a gold medal in State Unified Bowling.

In 2010, she began a Vermilion Parish Tournament for Speical Olympics team skills in basketball.
