Eagles, Lady Eagles get important district wins on road

The VC Eagles are now 16-4, 3-0 after taking out Hanson () by a 6-1 margin on Thursday.

Ryan Domingue got the start for the Eagles, pitching a complete game. Domingue allowed nine hits, but struck out 11 while walking just one.

Hanson’s lone run was unearned.

Blair Landry was 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored for the Eagles. Hayden Ryder was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Derek Broussard was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored and Blair Landry was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

The Eagles were to play St. Thomas More on Saturday, but that game had yet to be played as of press time.

VC has home games Monday-Wednesday.

The Eagles will host Ascension Episcopal (10-10, 1-2) for an 8-1A district clash on Monday at 6 p.m.

Then, on Tuesday, VC will host 5A Terrebonne (10-11, 3-2), also at 6 p.m.

Finally, on Wednesday, the Eagles are set to play a make-up game with Opelousas Catholic (9-12, 2-2) at 5 p.m.

It took 11 innings for a victor to be decided on Thursday when the Lady Eagles () faced Central Catholic in Morgan City on Monday, but VC outlasted CC to win 8-7.

Mia LeBeouf got the win for the Lady Eagles in the circle.

LeBeouf went 11 strong innings, giving up seven runs on 10 hits with 10 strikeouts and one walk.

She was 2-for-5 at the plate.

Ashailee Brailey was the hero of the game, driving in the eventual winning run. She was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Natalie Camel was 2-for-6 with two RBIs. Regan David was 2-for-6 with three RBIs. Caroline David went 3-for-4.

VC next travels to face Hanson (3-1) on Monday.
