“Club staff are in the process of wrapping up our after school program which will end on May 17 and putting the finishing touches on our upcoming summer program.”
The Vermilion Boys and Girls Club Rodney Unit is in its 22nd year of serving the youth of Vermilion Parish and offers life-enhancing programs and character development experiences to kids’ ages 6-18.
The cost to attend the Boys and Girls Club is only ten dollars per child for the entire summer. According to Ford, “The membership fee is kept low so that kids can afford to join with their own money. The club strives to enable its members to reach their full potential as caring, responsible citizens, and when kids pay for something themselves they are directly impacted by feeling a sense of belonging and ownership, which is just part of the youth development strategy that the club offers to its members.”
The summer program will begin on May 29 and will operate during the hours of 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with an additional early bird program available from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. for those parents who need early drop off.
The club provides a fun, positive and safe environment with caring adult professionals for kids to learn and grow during the summer since school is out and parents are working.
Ford would also like to remind everyone that as of last summer with the help of Mayor Piazza and the Abbeville City Council, the club is fully air-conditioned providing a wonderful environment for youth programs.
