Recently in the Courthouse, Kevin J. LeMaire of Kaplan and Jason Langley of Rayne were sentenced to 20 years in prison.
LeMaire, 37, was about to stand trial for forcible rape of an underage female for a crime that occurred in 2007. He first pled not guilty to the crime, but as the trial was about to begin, he reached a plea agreement with the state attorney Laurie Hulin and his counsel Jan Rowe. He pled no contest to the amended charge forcible rape.
The court accepted a plea of 20 years at hard labor, with the first two years having to be served without benefit of parole.
LeMaire was a convicted sex offender dating back to 1986.
Also, he is wanted in Kentucky for a sexual abuse case. It is not determined when he will stand trial for that case.
Jason Langley pled to a lesser charge of two counts of aggravated incest instead of two counts of aggravated rape.
Langley’s victim is a 13 year old female.
He was sentenced to 40 years at hard labor but all but 25 years were suspended without parole.
Alicia Butler was Langley’s lawyer and Ted Ayo represented the state.
