There are few better feelings than supporting a good cause.

Anyone looking to catch that feeling will have an opportunity to do so this Memorial Day Weekend. Shop Rite in Abbeville will hold a St. Jude fundraiser this Saturday at its store on Hwy. 167 across from Ray Chevrolet. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This is just something we have been doing for St. Jude the past couple of years,” Shop Rite Manager Marylin Landry said.

The fundraiser will include food, music and door prizes, as well as a fun jump for kids. Tickets will be sold for $1 to win the door prizes. All proceeds will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which offers help to families dealing with children’s catastrophic diseases.

Landry said several businesses from the area have donated to the event.

“We have some great prizes that were donated,” Landry said of the community support. “They went all out. We asked and they gave.”

Landry said Shop Rite has held the fundraiser for the past two years.

“We have just done it by word of mouth,” she said. “We are trying to get more people out to support this cause.”

Those who do will have a good time doing so.

“It’s going to be awesome,” Landry said. “We’re inviting everyone to come out and join us.”
