VC grad Blair Landry scores a run for the West squad at the 2012 East-West All-Star game in Alexandria.
Vermilion Catholic graduate Blair Landry ended his high school baseball career in style this past weekend, helping the West squad to split the LHSAA All-Star double header in Alexandria.

Landry went 1-for-2 with three assists at second base. He also had a stolen base and a run scored as the West team rallied from a 2-1, eighth inning deficit to win the second game by a 7-2 margin on Saturday.

The victory Saturday ended a three-game win streak for the East squad, dating back to 2011.

On Friday, the West squad managed to load the bases in the top of the ninth inning down 5-3, but could scratch across just one run to get the score to the 5-4 final margin.

On Saturday, the West team was trailing 2-1 in the eighth inning, but managed to rally to get something going in the final frames.

Andrew Stevenson, of STM, loaded the bases with a single, setting the stage for West MVP and Kinder shortstop Blake Trahan, who smashed a shot down the left-field line to plate two runners and give the West its first lead of the weekend double header.

After scoring on consecutive wild pitches, the West held a 6-2 lead after eight innings of play.

Mark Laird, centerfielder from Ouachita Christian, earned MVP honors on the East squad.
