GUEYDAN - Family reunions are traditions that usually comes around once a year.

The Theriot family are lucky enough to engage it such a tradition.

Descendants and friends of the pioneer Payne family gathered each year to honor their heritage and to instill the meaning of family to the next generations.

This year the family of Kathleen Theriot hosted the event at the Knights of Columbus.

According to a family spokesperson “these gatherings help build a sense of pride for the Payne name and teaches the younger generation the history of the family told to them by older members of the family and Miss Kathleen (MaMoe) herself.

With all of the family reunion planning aside it was time for the Texas relatives to enjoy the mouth watering Cajun food of boudin, gumbo, brisket, bread pudding and an array of many other dishes. The children enjoyed outdoor fun that included a fun jump.
