GUEYDAN - New swimsuit $80, cost of a condo $2500, spending your only week of vacation with your family and a storm named Debby ... priceless.

A family will wait and save all year for that one week of luxury on the white beaches of Florida. Basking in the sun, listening to the surf, drinking an adult beverage while watching the sunset, this is what a lot of folks had planned for this week. As hundreds flocked to the shorelines of Florida they saw red flags instead of lined beach chairs. Some had to make a decision of staying in their hotel or going to a shelter when the winds reached 50 miles per hour as Tropic Storm Debby stopped all plans but the adult beverages.

Most folks who live anywhere along the gulf coast can handle 50 miles an hour winds and usually call it a hurricane party!

The tropical storm spun drenching rains Monday over northern Florida as it hung nearly stationary over the Gulf of Mexico. Debby will continue to skirt the coast of Florida this week and if the meteorologists are correct the tropic storm should be hitting land Thursday, June 28 or Friday June 29.

An isolated tornado from the storm killed one person and authorities are continuing to look for another person who disappeared in the surf in Alabama.

As one family stated, “we are becoming very creative to keep the young children happy, we are listening to music, playing games and taking them to an arcade along with every other vacationer in Destin”!

Next stop...a tanning bed!
