Arrested and charged with DWI were Ceasar J. Touchet III, a 21-year old from Erath, and Taylor Francis, a 20-year-old from Delcambre.
The State Police also cited one driver with child restraining violation, one with insurance violation and three others with different vehicle violations.
The check point was set up near the red light by Lowe’s on the east end of Abbeville for traffic heading west into Abbeville.
It began at 10 p.m. on Tuesday and ended at 3 a.m. on Wednesday. A State Police unit was set up and the Abbeville Police Department assisted by helping direct traffic into the check point.
Close to 500 vehicles went through it and they located two drivers who were alcohol impaired.
Troopers looked for impaired drivers as well as aggressive drivers and unrestrained occupants.
