The Abbeville Police Department has another murder on its hands to solve after a shooting took place Thursday night.

Paul Rice Jr. was shot behind the head multiple times at the corner of South Bailey and Felicity Street in Abbeville.

The shooting is said to have happened at 10:30 p.m.

The police were called to the scene after neighbors heard gun shots fired. When the police arrived, they found Rice on the ground in the driveway of a friend’s home.

Friday afternoon friends and family went place balloons and cards, along with a candle, at the location of where the shooting occurred.

In the cards they wished Rice farewell and apologized for his death.

The Abbeville Police are investigating the shooting and did not give a motive as to why Rice was shot.

This is the second murder in Abbeville in the last two months.

Rita Jordan was murdered in her home on Graceland Street, which is only two blocks away from where Rice was killed.

The police did not say if the two murders are related.

The police are asking for help to solve both murders. If anyone knows who killed Jordan or Rice, they can call the police (893-2511).

Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family. Who could do such a cold and senseless thing? I hope who ever is to blame for this senseless taking of a young life is found and brought to justice.
