After a 7-4 win over Crowley on Sunday, which saw a tremendous performance by Ryan Domingue and Peyton Durke, among others, the 29ers squared off against Minden.
A close game got closer during the seventh inning when the 29ers tied the game 5-5. After that, the boys struggled to get an opening for five more innings. At the top of the 12th, bat came alive for the 29ers when Peter Broussard hit a single, followed by a double from Peyton Durke.
Sealing the deal was RJ Frederick, who knocked an in-the-park home run, giving himself along with Broussard and Durke a run.
Minden was unable to recover, only managing a single during the bottom of the 12th before their last batter struck out to give the win to Abbeville.
Broussard went connected with the ball three of his five at bats and scoring twice. Durke had two hits, was walked once and knocked a single, a double and one RBI.
Frederick had three hits, two singles and the aforementioned home run. Domingue had a single and a triple, was walked twice and scored twice.
As of press time, the 29ers were locked down in a rematch against Jesuit, who had knocked them into the losers bracket this weekend, handing Abbeville an 11-1 loss. Another loss knocks them out.
