Recently, a group of volunteer organizers, including the young French-speaking professionals group, FrancoJeunes, announced a benefit concert for CODOFIL.

This first time event will be hosted at Cochon Restaurant in Lafayette titled "Lâche pas."

The purpose of Lâche pas is to raise funds for the efforts of CODOFIL (The Council for the Development of French in Louisiana), the state agency charged with French language educational, cultural and economic development initiatives in Louisiana.

"It's so exciting to see so many people standing up to support CODOFIL and the world-class education their programs offer," says State Representative Stephen Ortego (D - Carencro) who along with a group of State Representatives announced efforts to patch the gap left in this year's CODOFIL budget after a line item veto.

"This is a Louisiana movement; this is our movement. It's time to stand up for who we are, where we come from and where we are going," Ortego added.

Lâche Pas is a volunteer-driven celebration of Cajun & Creole music and food.

Partners include Festival International de Louisiane, Festivals Acadiens et Creoles, Cochon Restaurant, Blackpot Festival, Louisiana Folk Roots, Blue Moon Saloon and FrancoJeunes.

Enjoy food and beverages from LA 31, Cochon Restaurant, The Black Pot All Stars, Saint Street Inn, French Press and more.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. on August 26, and end at 10 p.m.

Musical performances will be made on two stages. Acts include: Fuefollet, Corey Ledet, Roddie Romero and the Hub City Allstars, and Geno Delafose.

Your donation to CODOFIL will be $20 per person and $10 for students for admittance. Kids 12 and under get in free.

100% of the proceeds will benefit CODOFIL.

In addition to the evening-long event, an exclusive VIP Brunch at Cochon Restaurant will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. that day and featuring the Magnolia Sisters. Admittance will cost $100 per person, and there is limited seating. Tickets are available through Cochon Lafayette.
