Carson E. Vincent, 77, passed away early Sunday morning, December 16, 2012, in Mansfield, Ohio at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital. He was born June 30, 1935 in Rayne, Louisiana to the late Freddie and Pamela (Norris) Vincent.

Carson graduated from Erath High School in Louisiana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired after 25 years of service, moving to Mansfield. He then retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 10 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, fishing, socializing and spending time with his family.

Carson is survived by a daughter, Anita Backensto of Butler; grandson, Jimmy (Chastity) Steward of Ashland, great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jeremy and Sara Steward and Jacob and Brandon Ford; fiancée, Phyllis DeVinney of Mansfiel; several nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Dawn Grier.

In Louisiana he is survived by three sisters, Diana Callahan of Abbeville, Delsey Perrin of Lafayette and Jeanette Miguez of Delcambre; and two brothers, Murphy and Tommy Vincent of Erath. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Shirley (Howard) Vincent; grandson, Freddie Steward and two sisters and four brothers.

A funeral service was held Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 1 p.m. in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 3716 Bellville North Road, Bellville, Ohio. Rev. Dr. Beverly Hall conducted the service. Burial followed in Mansfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
