3 to be ordained to priesthood

Three seminarians, including Blaine Clement of St. Anthony Parish, will be ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Lafayette at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette.

Bishop Michael Jarrell of Lafayette will confer the Sacrament of Holy Orders on Clement, Keith Landry of Our Lady of Mercy, Henderson, and Clint Trahan of Holy Rosary, Kaplan.

The trio completed their studies for the priesthood at Notre Dame Seminary, New Orleans.

Bishop Jarrell will host the young men and their families at a meal Wednesday night, preceded by the blessing of the chalices in the chapel of Immaculata Center at 6:30 p.m.

After ordination, the new priests will be offering their first Mass in their home parish. Clement will offer his at 4 p.m. on Saturday in St. Anthony Church.

Firsts assignments for the ordinandi, effective June 18, are: Clement, associate pastor, Our Lady of Wisdom, Lafayette; Landry, associate pastor, Sacred Heart, Broussard; and Trahan, associate pastor, St. Joseph, Rayne
