In the first ever Star Rating of nursing homes by the Center for Medicare & Medicaid, Gueydan Memorial Guest Home received high ratings. GMGH received 4 out of a possible 5 stars for giving quality care to its nursing home residents. GMGH Administrator Matthew Duhon said, “This is a big honor for our staff, they work hard everyday to provide comfort and quality service to our residents.” Duhon also noted, “This rating places us above 90% of the 285 nursing homes in Louisiana.” Out of 44 Acadiana nursing homes only three received the honor of 4 stars.

The five-star rating system is based on Facilities State Inspections, Quality Measures and Staffing Patterns. Facilities receive stars with 1 being the lowest to 5 being the highest possible rating in each of the three categories. The nursing home rating report incorporates data reported through November 04, 2008. The information is current and will continue to be updated. Families wanting more information about GMGH and other local nursing homes can find all data at www.medicare.gov. Once at the website click on the Nursing Home Compare link.
