Jimmie Lecoq, 66, of Ville Platte was traveling east on US 190 when she lost control of her vehicle after traveling off the right side of the roadway. According to the report, the vehicle then struck a tree ejecting the front seat passenger, 69-year-old Winfield Lecoq of Ville Platte. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger in the vehicle, 78-year-old Bonnie Ritter of Ville Platte, was also fatally injured in the crash.
The driver was transported to a local hospital, where she was treated and later released. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected in this crash however; test results are pending from the LSP crime lab. This crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
